Sif Es Souane Off Road: extreme adventure in the Sahara
For the first time in the history of our desert adventures in Tunisia, we will visit the majestic dunes of Sif Es Souane—a unique journey into the heart of the Sahara, designed for experienced travelers ready to take on new challenges and explore the most beautiful and remote corners of the desert. After arriving in Tunis and stopping in Mahres, the journey leads to Ksar Ghilane, where the real adventure begins. From there, we’ll cross oases like Ain Ouadette and Swida, finally reaching the vast dune of Sif Es Souane. This journey includes nights spent deep in the desert, far from tourist routes, and is meant for those ready to test themselves and their well-prepared vehicles. The 10-day tour will include overnight stays in wild camps and hotels, offering a truly authentic and unforgettable experience.

Ferry Details
We collaborate with GNV on the Genoa–Tunis route (round trip).
- Standard combination:
Vehicle over 5 meters long and 2.5 meters high, with a 4-berth internal cabin reserved for 2 people. - Optional extras:

Ferry pricing will be calculated at the time of booking. The cost may vary depending on the type of cabin, vehicle size, and how early the reservation is made.

TRIP ITINERARY
DAY 1 > Genoa – Boarding at the port
Departure from Genoa, meeting at the port at 11:00 AM, where our staff will assist you with check-in and boarding procedures.
The ferry departure is scheduled for 3:00 PM. During the crossing, a briefing will be held to present the itinerary and provide all useful information for the trip. Overnight on board.
DAY 2 > Tunis – Mahres
Arrival in Tunis is expected around 2:00 PM. After completing customs formalities, we will continue by highway transfer to Mahres. Upon arrival, check-in to rooms and a typical dinner at the hotel restaurant. Dinner and overnight stay at a 4/5-star hotel.
DAY 3 > Mahres – Matmata – Zmela
Departure towards Matmata to stock up on provisions and diesel needed for the desert days. Visit to a troglodyte house, then proceed to KSAR GHILANE to see the oasis. Time permitting, a swim in the hot spring is possible, followed by shopping in various colorful shops. Then we will take a nice mixed sandy track that leads us away from the oasis bustle where we will set up our first camp. Aperitif and dinner featuring our cuisine, camping among the dunes.
DAY 4 > Zmela – El Mida – Gour El Kleb – Dekaniss
The first day of driving on sand begins. After deflating the tires, we will start crossing and tackle some dune ridges heading to El Mida. Stop at the well for customary photos, then continue the journey to Gour El Kleb – Dekaniss. Aperitif and dinner featuring our cuisine, camping among the dunes.
DAY 5 > Dekaniss – Ain Ouadette
The dunes start to get higher, and so does the driving fun, as we climb these sand mountains. Eventually, we will spot the oasis of Ain Ouadette on the horizon, framed by dunes. A warm bath in the oasis pond will be both mandatory and well deserved. Then we move to a quieter area to set up camp. Aperitif and dinner featuring our cuisine, camping among the dunes.
DAY 6 > Ain Ouadette – Sif Es Souane
Group photo at the oasis, then begin a fun day of driving on sand towards the majestic dune of Sif. The tall dunes will offer spectacular driving moments, off the usual tracks, to keep the feeling of being in the middle of nowhere. In the afternoon, arrival at the destination with a mandatory photo after planting the flag, accompanied by a bottle of chilled prosecco to celebrate. Dinner sheltered under the tent, camping among the dunes.
DAY 7 > Sif Es Souane – Tembaine
Dunes, dunes, and more dunes… the return might seem easy, but there will be many dunes to cross. The staff will do their best to find the easiest route. Dinner and overnight camping among the dunes.
DAY 8 > Tembaine – Douz
Mixed dunes and tracks transfer back towards civilization. If time allows, we will visit the place where desert roses form. Dinner and overnight stay at a hotel in Douz.
DAY 9 > Transfer to the port and boarding
Road transfer to the port, with a lunch stop along the way, chosen according to the group’s timing. Arrival at the port is expected in the afternoon. Check-in, boarding, and cabin accommodation.
DAY 10 > Crossing and disembarkation
Our journey ends with arrival and disembarkation at the port of Genoa.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Difficulty Level: High
The main challenges of this trip are related to weather conditions and the type of sand we will encounter along the route. This is an adventure designed exclusively for experienced travelers, and participation requires having already completed at least one previous desert driving experience.
Age:
There are no strict age limits, but for children, a minimum age of 8 years is recommended.
Group Trip:
Participation is guaranteed with a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 20 people.

Ferry operations:
Departure and arrival times may vary, potentially requiring adjustments to the itinerary.
Possible itinerary changes:
Although carefully planned, the travel schedule may change due to weather conditions, impassable routes, force majeure events (strikes, unrest, breakdowns), or operational needs of the Group Leader.
Liability and refunds:
Additional costs caused by force majeure are non-refundable, as are unused services due to delays or cancellations by carriers. The organization is not responsible for lost luggage or similar inconveniences.
Minimum number of participants and service changes:
Services are guaranteed with at least 10 participants. With fewer participants, some services may be modified, with notification via email, without compromising the overall travel experience.
Personal insurance:
The trip is covered by NOBIS Medical/Baggage Medium insurance. Optional travel cancellation insurance or extended coverage can be added based on your needs. Contact us for a personalized quote.
Vehicle insurance:
Check your insurance coverage. The “TN” box on your vehicle documents must not be crossed out; if it is, additional insurance can be purchased for about €30 at the Tunis port.
Tunisian Dinar (TND) – Exchange rate: 1 dinar ≈ €0.30
No vaccinations are required for this trip.
Passport:
Mandatory, with at least 3 months’ validity remaining.
