Description
1. Maximum comfort over small bumps
The initial section of the spring (with tighter coils) is highly sensitive. It smoothly absorbs minor road imperfections, cobblestones, and potholes without transmitting vibrations to the cabin. A linear spring tuned for a heavy off-road vehicle would feel stiffer and more “bouncy” on small bumps. The rebound effect is reduced thanks to the spring’s progressive extension, minimizing the harsh shocks typically felt when driving live-axle vehicles.
2. High bottom-out resistance on hard terrain
When facing major obstacles, crossing ditches at speed, or during jumps, the spring compresses further. As it enters its second working zone (wider coils), the spring becomes extremely stiff. This prevents the front suspension from bottoming out, protecting the chassis and oil sump from destructive impacts.
3. Superior stability and braking on asphalt
A 4×4 vehicle’s weight transfers forcefully to the front end during hard braking or corner entry. The progressive spring stiffens rapidly during weight transfer, actively countering front-end dive (pitch). It also reduces body roll in corners, making on-road driving significantly safer and more like a standard passenger car.
4. Better terrain tracking
In technical off-roading, keeping the tires glued to the ground is crucial for traction. The soft initial section allows the wheel to drop and follow ground contours effortlessly, improving overall grip even without differential locks engaged.
5. Increased load capacity and improved weight management
For overlanding applications, weight management is critical. Our new progressive springs increase load-carrying capacity while delivering a progressive suspension response, enhancing both reliability and ride comfort.
