SHD LINE “Beyond reinforced transmission”
The new powertrain for those who are always looking for reliability.
The result of decades of experience gained on the toughest European racing fields, the latest evolutionary steps of the SHD “LA” reinforced transmission line for your Land Rover are now available.
We are pleased to present to you our last work in our transmissions line. It is designed by our “R&D” department following the indications of the “Herero Racing Division” and is build to achieve maximum reliability and performance to meet the needs of those who require top performance for their Land Rover.
Nothing was left to chance, no component was reused, we started from a blank sheet to rewrite the “target” of an uncompromising transmission with unique performances that allows you to always dare.
SHD Reinforced Flanges with cylindrical pins
The transmission flange is an element which, by coupling with the ribbed shaft of the axle shaft and binding itself to the wheel hub, by means of 5 screws 10.9, allows the transmission of the drive torque to the wheels.
Often underestimated, it can represent a real burden in Land Rover transmissions.
THE PROBLEM
The main problems that the original flange presents are:
- creation of rust on the contact surface with the ribbed axle
- torque transmission by means of tightening screws.
THE SOLUTIONS
- The rust that is created on the half shaft is due to the rubber cover which is not able to isolate the half shaft from water and over time it ruins the coupling surface between the parts and wears out, causing early breakage of the half shaft. For this reason, our flange has a metal screw cap with O-ring for maximum water / dirt tightness.
- The torque transmission by means of the required clamping screws to the flange is 100% functional as long as the tightening torque of the screws is correct. By loosening, due to vehicle vibrations or due to deterioration of the hub thread, the screw begins to work in shear and breaks in the hub. So super reinforced transmission.
Our solution is to equip the flange with 5 holes for the same number of 8×18 mm elastic pins capable of transferring the torque independently of the tightening of the screws and at the same time increasing the torque that can be transmitted to the wheels.
The SHD flange is also made with a new high-strength material derived from AeroTech which, thanks to its toughness, does not require surface hardening treatments, leaving the material with an excellent relationship between strength and elasticity.
